Interior Design Trends 2024

The close of 2023 brings an exciting new year of interior design trends. Stepping into 2024, we’ll embrace new concepts and styles that we expect to push the boundaries of contemporary interior design.

Interior designers in the past years have had a lot more to focus on than just aesthetics alone, and the skilled Italian interior design experts responsible for our furniture are no different; there are new requirements when designing furniture, with those at the forefront being:

  • Use of sustainable materials
  • Functionality complementing aesthetic
  • Integration with emerging technologies

With this being said, we will break down the top 5 interior design trends we think will happen in 2024:

Returning To Neural Pallets

In the previous years, we have seen a large shift from bright maximalist to desaturated primary colours and shades of grey/black. However, in 2024, it is already clear that people are moving towards the usage of more neutral pallets, incorporating off-whites and earthy beiges, and taking more inspiration from natural materials.

Retro Revival

High-gloss has seen a large increase in popularity for many years, offering an elegant and simplistic finish regardless of the space. However, much like the seventies, we expect to see a revival of dark woods, faux fur rugs, low-standing furniture, and lacquered natural wood surfaces.

3D Wall Art & Sculptures

As the times have changed, so have people’s working environments. It’s become all too commonplace for employees to join morning Teams/Zoom calls, often using a simulated or blurred background. However, as people have become more and more familiar with their new working environments, we have seen an increase in people sprucing up their feature walls, creating a more productive environment to help them connect better with their space.

With this, the days of flat wall art may be coming to a close, with people favouring wall-hanging sculptures and 3D art to add depth to their feature walls.

Wall Panelling

Contemporary homes are known for many of their beautiful and creative design decisions, but one which has been made commonplace over the last couple of years is panelling. However, unlike square inset panelling which has been widely adopted previously, we expect to see the large-scale adoption of acoustic wood slat panelling on feature walls in 2024.

Return Of Filament Bulbs

Over the last few years, we have gravitated away from filament bulbs in favour of LEDs, they appear in streetlights, our homes, and even in our cars. Even though LEDs bring many great features, such as RGB colour changing, smart home integration and long life spans, there is a certain appeal that comes from a beautifully crafted filament bulb. These have become more and more popular in the micro-pub and independent coffee shop scene, and for good reason: they create the perfect ambience for relaxation, and their impact, especially in smaller spaces, should not be underestimated.
